This is a great principle, so thanks for sharing the video. That one degree of difference can be a big one.

For some people, that's just the kind of inspiration they need. For others, the perfectionists, that's too much pressure. Ultimately, God is in control of the results, not us.

Clever movie, though.

I stopped by the site to check it out. It has a nice feel to it and definitely lots of opportunity to learn.

Looking forward to seeing how it works out for you.

Just a note of thanks from one of the conference attendees. I sat in your book proposal session and though I had already prepared a proposal to submit to the editors I was meeting with last weekend, it was good to feel that the research and work I had done was 'backed up' during your presentation. Funny that you should address your 'road warrior' friends in the last post, as that is the subject of my current book project. I hope your joining the road warrior ranks has not been too wearing on you.

Thanks for all the valuable information and for teaching the class, even if you were in the gender minority. :)

I am definitely an extrovert, so I could social network until the cows come home. But wait, I'm a writer! So sometimes I have to actually, you know, WRITE.

And yet, sometimes social networking is still difficult for writers like me who need to market themselves but don't quite feel worthy enough of marketing. I may be an introvert, but I still have the challenge of not feeling like I'm pushy when I market.

I started an online writers group and we have around 300 writers, that's helped me feel connected to other people during my solitary writing days.

Extroversion and introversion basically refer to how you recharge your batteries. Being an extrovert, I recharge by interacting with others. My husband is an introvert and recharges by being by himself.

Lexie,

You make a good point but social networks are just like joining yahoo groups or writing groups or critique groups or any number of other possibilities. You have to pick and choose the ones that work for you. I blogged about trying the Book Marketing Social Network for just that reason--to show that I'm trying it out. I may stay. I may not participate much. The verdict is out but I'm continuing to form new relationships is the idea.

Hope that helps you,

Terry

Because there are so many social network platforms available, it's hard to decided which, if any to participate in. Then there's the issue of spending even more time online than I do now. What's your take on that?

For the time being I have to focus on blogging while being open to eventually getting involved in SNS.

Terry,
Sorry to get here a day late. Your story about heeding the editor's advice and being disappointed later resonated with me. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt but it doesn't fit. In my case, it was a matter of doing a massive revision of a novel, only to hear back from the editor that, although I'd addressed every concern and the writing was quite good, it just "wouldn't fly." Welcome to publishing 101.
As always, thanks for your postings.

I was one of the anxious first-timers you met with at the "She Speaks" conference. I want to thank you for being so generous with your comments and attention. What you offered was truly appreciated and it did help me. I plan to take your advice and submit articles. I will also continue to develop my book proposal. I will let the Spirit of God be my "instinct". Be blessed.

You are very wise about not taking every editor's/agent's word as gospel. I guess experience is a good teacher. Check out a different perspective on the topic of editors and agents at www.literaryrejectionsondisplay.blogspot.com
Sometimes outside editorial advice is right on; sometimes careless; other times just plain way off. Though it's hard to know in the moment which is which, sitting and listening to the inner-writer usually clarifies.
